Together with all the staff of the Korea Hemophilia Foundation(KHF), I am proud to offer this homepage on the ongoing projects on hemophilia management in Korea and the current status on treatment of hemophilia patients for those who are involved in clinical treatment and research on hemophilia.
As we all know, hemophilia is an incurable, genetic disease. The suffering of the patients (who must get recombinant factor for the rest of their lives), the inconvenience caused by the physical challenges, the psychological stress on patients' families, and the economic burden are very significant.
The Korea Hemophilia Foundation was established 15 years ago to pursue projects on hemophilia, find a cure for the disease and conduct other researches in reference to more efficient treat and manage it. It has certainly achieved significant development.
Thanks to the localization of recombinant factor production and the government's active support, we can say that Korea has reached a significant plateau in hemophilia management projects and basic researches.
The KHF will maintain a close cooperative relationship with the WFH in the future and make efforts for future hemophilia projects in Korea. Furthermore, living up to the motto of the WFH, it will actively cooperate with them in the execution of various projects, thereby giving even greater hope to patients and rendering more effective assistance to them.
I truly hope that this homepage helps you understand the KHF and the management of the disease.
On behalf of all the staffs of the KHF, I also want to express my sincere gratitude for your support to the KHF.
